Following the handover of the No.3 irrigation area of the first bid section in Issyk-Kul on March 13 this year, the No.1 irrigation area of the first bid section of the China-aided Kyrgyzstan Irrigation System Renovation Project contracted by China Railway No.5 Engineering Group under CREC was officially handed over on May 31.
The No.1 irrigation area is located in Batken District, Batken Prefecture, which was officially launched in 2018 and completed and put into use in 2021. The irrigation project has upgraded and improved the area of cultivated land covered by irrigation water to 1543 hectares, and increased the area of irrigated cultivated land to 1500 hectares, providing an important guarantee for the "living water source" of agricultural production for local residents.
The renovation project of China's irrigation system in Kyrgyzstan is located in three irrigation areas in Issyk-Kul and Batken. It involves new construction, maintenance, and expansion of agricultural irrigation canals and ancillary structures.
