On June 11, the commencement ceremony of the first phase of the SEM Copper Cathode Project in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) was held in the border town of Kasumbalesa between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia.
This project marks the first instance of China Railway Sixth Group participating as a general contractor in constructing a wet copper plant in the Congo (DRC) market. China Railway Sixth Group's electrical company is mainly responsible for the civil engineering, housing construction, tailings dam, road, electromechanical, steel structure, HVAC, and other engineering construction of the 30,000-ton wet copper production line.
After the completion of the first phase of the cathode copper project of SEM Copper Mine, it will become a modern large-scale hydrometallurgical copper mine integrating mining, dressing, and smelting. It will have a daily ore processing capacity of 9000 tons and a monthly copper output of 2500 tons.
